What to Expect During Filler Treatment

What to Expect During Treatment
Dermal filler
Pre-treatment consultation
During your consultation, your will evaluate your area of concern and review your medical history. While the risks associated with dermal fillers are minimal, you need to fully disclose your medical history prior to treatment, as certain allergies, skin and neurological conditions, or medications can jeopardize your safety or results. For instance, you do you use (e.g., aspirin, ibuprofen, naproxen) or blood thinners, as these increase the likelihood of bruising.
Your injectable filler treatment
Just before the actual treatment, the area will be cleaned, and you may be given a topical anesthetic to numb the area prior to injection. Many filler products also contain lidocaine, a mild anesthetic, which is intended to help minimize discomfort during and after your treatment. Your provider will then inject a precise amount of filler strategically beneath the skin.
Depending on the product and the areas treated, you should be able to notice results immediately after receiving filler injections after 24h Some patients experience mild bruising , swelling, but these are temporary and should subside over the days following treatment. You will be able to go back to your normal activities right after treatment.

Do Not
Do not were you face mask after any injection on your face it increase infection and inflammation
Don’t participate in intense cardio
Plan on taking that Spin class before you head to your appointment. Intense physical activity causes increased blood flow throughout the body, including in the face. This can theoretically move the injected neurotoxin before it has a chance to bind to the intended muscle, causing it to weaken additional nearby muscles that were not the target .

Don’t apply makeup

Neurotoxin injections can leave small, red marks at each injection site. These are temporary and easily covered with makeup—just make sure to wait at least 30 minutes before doing so, advises Dr. Bowe. “While they’re very small, each of these marks is still a little puncture wound. There’s a direct and open channel, and you don’t want to risk [introducing] any bacteria that may be in your makeup into your skin,” she explains. Waiting half an hour gives your skin enough time to re-epithelialize, essentially a fancy way of saying that it can close up that little wound, she says.
Don’t use facial tools
. You’ll want to avoid these after getting fillers for 24h
Wait two weeks to get your COVID-19 vaccine
“While we don’t suspect any type of negative interaction between the vaccine and Botox ,schedule your vaccine for two weeks before or two weeks after neurotoxin injections. (As far as fillers go, there have been some report of increased swelling and inflammation separating the vaccine and filler injections by four weeks.)

After hyaluronic acid fillers
Don’t get a massage at least for 2 weeks
There are several reasons these are off-limits for at least two weeks after fillers. Lying on your stomach, with your face pressing into the “donut” on a massage table, can greatly increase swelling, especially if you’ve had filler in your tear troughs or cheeks, notes While it won’t necessarily affect the final results, it will prolong the healing time, she adds. Similarly, any type of facial massage, especially a deep lymphatic massage, is a major no-no .

Don’t wear glasses or goggles

Wearing glasses all day can cause repeated pressure on the area of filler, resulting in a small indent that then needs to be fixed with more filler,

Don’t enjoy a few cocktails

It’s not a great idea to head straight from your injection appointment to drinks with friends. There’s a little blood clot that forms under the surface of the skin after filler injections, and alcohol can dissolve that clot .

DON’T touch the treated area for at least 12- 24 hours afterwards.

The risk of infection is much higher in the time immediately after your filler treatment, so medical experts recommend not touching the affected area for at least that amount of time. Touching the area with your hands, or even a makeup brush, increases the risk of infection greatly. So, no, make-up either, as tempting as it may be, for at least 6-8 hours! Arizona aesthetic expectations may make this a tricky step, but a day or two at home can help.
