Jaffles:
You will only get a jaffle in South-Africa and Australia. In South Africa most people go to a festival or a church ‘basaar’ to find and buy this South-African treat.
What is a jaffle?
A jaffle is probably best described as a closed toasted sandwich that has a variety of savoury fillings which is made in an iron cast clamp (jaffle iron) over an open fire or gas.
What is to love about a jaffle?
Well, the variety of fillings that you can put in it of course. We’ve tried everything from chicken mayonnaise, cheese and ham, breakfast jaffles with scrambled eggs, cheese and bacon or savoury ground beef (my personal favourite). It also is a favourite for camping food.
If you are lucky enough to have any left overs, it makes a great lunch time snack at school or work!
