Ribs with onion rings


Ingredients

  • BBQ Ribs

  • 2 kg Ribs

  • Onion Rings

  • 3 large red onions, sliced into rings

  • 15 ml (1 T) salt

  • 750 ml (3 C) flour

  • 30 ml (2 T) BBQ spice

  • oil, for deep frying

  • Sweet & Sour Sauce:

  • 125 ml (½ C) pineapple juice

  • 125 ml (½ C) light brown sugar

  • 15 ml (1 T) tomato sauce

  • 30 ml (2 T) sweet chilli sauce

  • 5 ml (1 t) red wine vinegar Method

  • BBQ Ribs

  • Braai the ribs for 15 minutes on each side, turning every 5 minutes. Do not burn.

  • Onion Rings

  • Season onions with salt and refrigerate for 10 minutes.

  • Coat onions with 500 ml (2 C) of flour and BBQ spice.

  • Refrigerate again while the oil heats.

  • Coat again with the remaining flour and deep fry the onion rings until golden and crispy.

  • Sweet & Sour Sauce

  • Stir all ingredients together in a saucepan over moderate heat until the sugar dissolves. Bring to the boil, then remove from the heat. @tasty home foodies
